Anyone going to the AGM? I'll be there and really looking forward to it. Never been to Vancouver before. As usual there are at least two breakout sessions per block that I want to go to--if only I could clone myself. I'm also participating in the author signing in the pre-banquet cocktail hour Saturday night. If anyone on this forum is going to be around, please stop by and say hi! |

I have been to Vancouver many times. It is an absolutely beautiful city to be in. I wish I could go, when is the JASNA AGM? Vancouver is like Seattle, but only bigger and much cooler. Vancouver has some of the best Chinese food in North America, even better than what we have in L.A. Plan to take a stroll and bike around Stanley Park, it is not to be missed. If you have more time, take boat to city of Victoria on Vancouver island, it is the closest thing to Bath in England. Also be sure to visit Butchart Gardens on the island, it is Jane Austen country. |

Thanks for the info on Vancouver--sounds like a wonderful city. The AGM is October 5-7, 2007. Registration is full, I believe, but you can check out the program at jasna.org and click on "Annual General Meetings." I won't have much time to check out the city itself, as I will be immersed in attending talks on Austen, Austen, and Austen, but I plan to take two walking tours and get a taste (hopefully Chinese food included) of the city. |

Please post some pictures of your book reading and your lectures at the AGM in Vancouver. |

I will be signing books with other attending authors during the pre-banquet cocktail hour on Saturday night; I'm not scheduled to give a reading or a talk. I'm really excited about being there. I will definitely take pictures and post them on this site. |

It must be exciting to be amongst like minded authors who share the same interest in Jane Austen, and also writing about the world of Jane Austen and the people who lived in it. Do you guys share trade secrets at these gathering? What is it like? Please do tell. |

Yes, I'm going. Will bring my own copy for you to sign (please) as well as buy a couple more for gifts. Looking forward to meeting you. I am actually going to that dinner ball that night in a regency gown. My first time at the AGM as well-- a bit worried though that this may seem a bit too "star trek convention for the regency world" -- but I'm taking a chance that it just might be fun! |

Nah, wearing a Star Trek uniform is far more geeky than a regency gown. Have fun, wish I could go. |

How cool that you're going, Christina. And it's your first AGM--you're going to have a blast. You definitely won't feel out of place in period dress; wish I had planned ahead so that I could wear a Regency gown, too. Next year... Looking forward to meeting you in person! |

I've posted some photos of the Vancouver AGM on this site. Look under "Many Charming Views" (top menu), then "Scrapbook" (lefthand menu), for the JASNA Vancouver AGM album. (See if one of you can recognize yourself in the pictures.) ;-) |

Yes, I see me. I will try to email you the photo as well later this week... it's from film... so I just have to figure out how to scan, says the non-computer woman. |

Very sweet of you, Christina, but please don't go to any trouble! The print is wonderful--I just thought if it happened to be digital already...but it's not, so don't worry about it. |
