Hi, all. I am SO excited about launching RUDE AWAKENINGS OF A JANE AUSTEN ADDICT, which debuts in North America on June 25, 2009. And I'm wondering what people are hoping for in the second book. It's the parallel story of Jane Mansfield, who is taking over Courtney Stone's life in the twenty-first century while Courtney is taking over Jane's life in the nineteenth century. As you can imagine, comic situations--and opportunities for high drama and romance--abound. |

I can't wait for Rude Awakening of a Jane Austen Addict! It will be so funny/interesting seeing how a woman from Jane Asuten's time will be able to cope iin our world. Espicially because she will have to deal with technology, the fashion, and completely different social standards. It will be the perfect beach read for me while Im in Florida this summer! I can't wait! |

Obviously, I'm excited to find out what Jane experiences but part of me desparately hopes for an interaction between Jane and Courtney before a correction occurs in the space/time continuum. |

oooh what a fascinating idea. Very Star Trek, which I just saw last night and loved! |

mkay: "Space-time-continuum"........Right out of "Back to the future." I anticipate Jane will undergo a crash course in how to cope with the future and I hope that in her sphere of influence she will teach those around her lessons in etiquette, civility, and virtue........qualities our culture need to desperately revisit. |

I hope Jane falls in love and I hope our Jane discovers high heels and Chanel No. 5. |

That is so cute, DK.
And maybe Jane will learn a few lessons herself, finetooner!
I love using these forum names, BTW. Makes me feel like a Secret Service Agent. Or some sort of action hero. :) |

Greetings!
I am expecting an ending that leaves me wanting more--just like the first book. :)
Ultimately, I want Courtney to find true love in the 21st century. If living in the period of Mansfields Park will help her to find that true love, then so be it.
Warmly,
Kim |

Amazon has "Rude Awakenings of a Jane Austen Addict" for $17.13 in hardback. That's an excellent price to me. What thinkest thou? |

MCK, have a wonderful trip to Ireland. So exciting!
And Merlin, RA is not out in the UK, but I believe the North American edition is obtainable from Amazon.uk.
Bon voyage, everyone! I'm off myself tomorrow. See you back on the forum in two weeks! |

Thanks Laurie, I thought I might be able to buy it in Bath - I'll take Persuasion with me - the weather forecast is torrential rain and thunderstorms so it will be appropriate! (It is English summer time after all Wimbledon and Glastonbury)
Hope you have a lovely vacation too - take care. |

Just got back for Barnes and Noble where I purchased a particular book that was released yesterday. What was the title of that book....I know it, it's right on the tip of my tongue....something about a rude awakening. Very eye catching and compelling. The book, however, has been handed off and put under lock and key until vacation. UGH!! it's a 2 week wait but I want to savor the story and I know it will be worth the wait. |

I got it! Is the bespectacled gentleman in Ch 1 indeed Wes?? This is gonna be a fun read, having since read "Confessions." Anyone else out there into "Rude Awakenings?" |
 |

No! I'm so mad that I haven't gone to get it yet. Hopefully I can run out to get it tomorow so I can read it on my flight to Ireland Saturday! |

I'm about half-way through "Rude Awakenings" and, thus far, Ms. Rigler has not tipped her hand yet. Everything is still up in the air, unresolved, and suspense is building steadily. |

Hello from Big D!
I got my book in the mail today!!! I am so happy. Can't wait to begin to read it.
Laurie, the book looks so pretty. I love the "curley ques" next to the page number at the beginning of each new chapter. Nice touch!
On a different note...
North Texas JASNA Chapter has a web site, check it out: www.jasnanorthexas.com. As most of you know, we will be hosting the 2011 AGM. Y'all come.
Warmly,
Kim

Hey, Kimmy.
Happy you like the package. I agree; it really is a pretty book! :)
And y'all have a lovely website. Congratulations! Will you be teaching two-stepping as well as English Country Dance at the AGM? ;-) I spent about four months in Texas some years back when I was working in film production (in Austin, not Austen), and I loved it. Took two-step lessons, too!

FINISHED! I won't divulge anything about "Rude Awakenings" so as not to disappoint any other readers. Laurie: I LOVED it and want more-more-more! You must tell us, "Rude Awakenings" notwithstanding, what your next project is. |

So happy to hear that, Finetooner!
The next book is not at a stage where I can talk about it just yet... |

Hey Laurie
I made an important purchase prior to leaving for vacation...Rude Awakenings audio book. So I wanted to take the opportunity to thank you for keeping me company through three states and one province! It made a long drive pass very quickly!
I am, however, still waiting for the big screen version :) |

Sorry, mkay, that went into the black hole! Very happy you enjoyed the audiobook! |

Hi Laurie: Still waiting for news that some smart producer has agreed to turn either one of your superlative books into a film (preferrably BOTH) The only other contemporary writer who has a flair for humor even approaching yours is Lauren Willig! |

Thank you for the kind words, Jeffrey. I am sure it will happen when the time is right! And in the meantime we have the web series. :)) |
