Confessions of a Jane Austen Addict may sound familiar; that’s because it bears more than a passing resemblance to the recent ITV series, Lost in Austen, in which a Jane Austen fan in the present day finds herself transported to the pages of Pride and Prejudice. In Laurie Viera Rigler’s book the heroine Courtney Stone wakes up in 19th century England in the bed and body of a girl called Jane Mansfield. It’s a witty and enjoyable take on the structures and conventions of Austen’s novels, and a welcome addition to the time travel genre.
